Indian 2, the highly anticipated sequel directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, has had a dismal run at the box office. On its fifth day, the film earned just ₹0.3 crore, bringing its total five-day collection to ₹65.15 crore.
The film’s poor performance has effectively ended its prospects, especially in the north. Despite being a much-awaited sequel featuring Kamal Haasan reprising his role as the vigilante Senapathy, Indian 2 opened to poor reviews and discouraging word of mouth, which dented its chances on the opening day itself.

By comparison, last year’s Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer had opened at ₹48.35 crore, while Vijay’s Leo had a smashing Thursday opening of ₹64.8 crore – which is how much Indian 2 has earned in five days. Shankar’s previous film, 2.0, had minted ₹60.25 crore on its opening day itself.
Indian 2’s Hindi collections have also been a disappointment, failing to cross ₹4 crore in five days. The film released alongside the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sarfira, which is also a washout at ₹15.70 crore so far.
