Akshay Kumar’s latest film Sarfira is struggling at the box office, earning only around ₹1.75 crore on its fifth day. The inspirational drama, which is a remake of the Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru, has collected a disappointing ₹15.20 crore in its first five days in India.
Sarfira’s occupancy on Monday was just 13.61% nationwide, with 15.50% in Mumbai and 14% in Delhi/NCR. It is pacing ahead of Kumar’s previous flop Selfiee, which earned ₹17.03 crore lifetime.
On day 5, Indian 2 box office collection sank into single digits
The film faces stiff competition from Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which has grossed ₹65.15 crore in five days. With both Sarfira and Indian 2 underperforming, the upcoming romantic comedy Bad Newz starring Vicky Kaushal and Tripti Dimri is poised to take advantage of the lackluster box office performance of the two big releases.
Films marks Akshay Kumar’s 150th film, but the actor has seen a string of flops in the last four years, including Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Selfiee, and others. The poor showing of Sarfira indicates the film is headed for a rough landing at the box office.
