Akshay Kumar, the popular Bollywood actor, has revealed how his father Hari Om Bhatia reacted when he changed his name from Rajiv Bhatia to Akshay Kumar.
According to the search results, Akshay Kumar was born with the name Rajiv Bhatia, but later changed it to Akshay Kumar for his acting career. In a recent interview, Akshay shared that when he told his father about changing his name, his father disapproved of it, asking “What’s wrong with you?”

Akshay’s sister Alka Bhatia also revealed in a past interview that when Akshay was in 7th grade, his academic performance was not good. Their father Hari Om Bhatia got angry and asked Akshay what he wanted to do in life. Akshay then wrote to his father that he wanted to become a hero, to which his father replied “At this age, you want to become a hero? At least study something. You should know Hindi, English, something to speak.”

Despite his father’s initial disapproval of the name change, Akshay Kumar went on to become one of the biggest stars in Bollywood. He has shared that his father later advised him to “just keep working hard” and “be honest to your work” regardless of whether his films succeed or not at the box office.
