Wiz Khalifa, the American rapper, was arrested in Romania for illegal drug possession after smoking cannabis on stage during a performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinesti on July 13, 2024.
According to the Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors (DIICOT), Khalifa was found in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis, which is considered a “risk drug” in Romania. Possession of marijuana in Romania can be punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Footage circulated online showing Khalifa being escorted away by Romanian authorities from the festival premises. Khalifa later acknowledged the arrest on social media, expressing regret for any disrespect caused and stating that the authorities were “very respectful” and let him go. He indicated that he plans to return to Romania in the future, but without a “big ass joint” next time.
This incident echoes Wiz Khalifa’s past encounters with the law, including a 2010 arrest in North Carolina for drug charges after a concert. Despite the arrest, Khalifa was not kept in custody, and the investigation into the musician is ongoing, according to prosecutors.
