Actress Jodie Sweetin was pushed aggressively by a police officer at a peaceful protest.
At a rally against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which has effectively removed federal safeguards for abortion rights, Full House actor Jodie Sweetin was assaulted by a Los Angeles Police Department officer.
Variety reports that soon after the event on Saturday had place, a video of it started to circulate online. In the video, an LAPD officer can be seen holding and pushing Sweetin before she finally drops to the ground. While some protesters reprimand the line of police officers, others rush to assist Sweetin in standing up. The incident seems to take place near an exit from the freeway that the protesters had blocked.
Before the cry “No justice, no peace” starts, one demonstrator cries, “What the f**k is wrong with you guys?” The actress and activist Sweetin is shown in the video, according to a spokesman for her.
Following the incident, Sweetin issued a statement saying, “I’m incredibly proud of the hundreds of people that showed up yesterday to express their First Amendment rights and take urgent action to peacefully protest the enormous injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court.”
“Until our voices are heard and action is taken, activism will continue. We won’t let this stop us from continuing to stand out for our rights. Until ALL of us are free, we are not free.”
