Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about the traumatic impact of his parents’ frequent fights during his childhood. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, the actor revealed that he spent most of his childhood sitting on the staircases of their bungalow, listening to the loud arguments between his parents, Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor shared that he was always scared and on edge due to the volatile situation at home. He mentioned that any loud noise still disturbs him to this day because of this past trauma. Despite coming from a privileged background, Ranbir did not receive extra money while studying abroad, and his father even took away his car upon his return to keep him grounded.

The actor expressed his fear of his father, admitting that he never actually saw Rishi Kapoor’s eyes and always bowed down and agreed to everything he said due to intimidation. However, Ranbir clarified that unlike his character in the film “Animal,” he was genuinely frightened of his father and not obsessed with him.
Ranbir Kapoor also revealed that while his mother shared her feelings with him during the rough patches in their relationship, his father was less expressive, leaving him unable to understand or hear his father’s perspective. He acknowledged that the emotional distance between them might be attributed to his father’s generation, as men from that era often struggled with vulnerability.
