In a tweet, AR Rahman wrote “Vande Matram,” accompanied by a series of emojis, conveying his happiness and pride at seeing the national team embrace his patriotic song. Bharat Bala, who collaborated with Rahman on the original music video, also shared a clip of the moment and described it as “really emotional to see an anthem created 27 years ago continues to fire the nation”.

The song “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” which includes the “Vande Mataram” portion, was released in 1997 as a tribute to India on the occasion of the country’s Golden Jubilee anniversary of independence. In 2022, the song celebrated its Silver Jubilee, and it was part of AR Rahman’s “Vande Mataram” album.
