Amit Mishra, the former Indian leg-spinner and current Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) player, has revealed that it was Virat Kohli who started “abusing” LSG players during the IPL 2023 match between LSG and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Lucknow.
Mishra stated that Kohli did not have any specific grudges against LSG players like Kyle Mayers or Naveen-ul-Haq, but he still “started abusing” them. Mishra said that “a lot of things could have been avoided but Kohli chose not to” and continued his aggressive behavior even after the match during the customary handshakes .

The incident was sparked by an earlier match in Bengaluru, where LSG had defeated RCB. LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had celebrated the win aggressively, which Virat Kohli apparently did not like. When the two teams met again in Lucknow, Kohli’s behavior turned confrontational, leading to the heated exchange between him and the LSG players .

Mishra revealed that even after the match ended, Virat Kohli continued to abuse Naveen-ul-Haq, which prompted Gambhir to intervene. Mishra believes that the young Naveen-ul-Haq may not respect Kohli again after this incident, and it also set a poor example for the younger generation of cricketers.
