BCCI should put in writing that the Indian Government has declined permission to play in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is demanding that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provide written proof from the Indian government stating that they have declined permission for the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy.

The PCB is insistent that the BCCI must inform the ICC about India’s travel plans to Pakistan at least 5-6 months before the tournament and do so in writing. They want this written confirmation from the BCCI as it is mandatory for the Indian board to provide it to the ICC.

The PCB has already submitted a draft schedule to the ICC that includes all of India’s matches, including potential semi-finals and the final, to be played in Lahore. However, BCCI sources have indicated that there is currently no chance of the Indian team traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

The ICC has allocated additional budget for any contingency plans in case the Champions Trophy needs to be played outside of Pakistan due to India’s potential absence. But the PCB is adamant that the BCCI must provide the written proof from the Indian government before the ICC’s annual conference on July 19th.
